UK: Greenest Ever Day on Easter Monday

The UK’s electricity grid was the greenest it has ever been on Eater Bank Holiday Monday, with 80% of energy coming from zero-carbon energy sources. National Grid ESO explained that the sunny and windy weather, coupled with the low demand for power on the day led to a surge in renewable sources of energy. On Monday, wind power made up 39% of the electricity mix, solar power 21& and nuclear 16% – meaning zero carbon sources made up 80% of the nation’s power.
