Managing 2020’s changing UK energy demand

In this unprecedented year, the pattern of energy use is changing due to work from home and low industrial demand. Demand is up at homes, with a smoothed morning peak while industrial demand is much reduced leading to complications in managing the national grid. During Summer 2020 it is possible demand will fall below the baseload generation with incentives needed to reduce production or increase demand flexibly. We may see more negative prices for our smarter energy demand at times. National Grid and Distribution System Operators quietly carry on delivering the energy and managing the networks to meet the different needs of energy for us all in 2020. We raise our mugs to them!
